The competition distance for boys is 3.1 miles and for girls it is 3200 meters (approx. 2 miles).
Teams consist of five or more runners who all race together at the same time against other teams. The top five finishers from each team are used for scoring and their finishing places are totaled to see which team wins. High school races are usually 3.1 miles long, and JV races are usually 2 miles long. The courses oftentimes take place at public parks or golf courses and parents are allowed to attend and cheer them on from anywhere on the course.

According to the official NHS website, “Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in NHS activities. NHS chapters are found in all 50 states, US Territories, Canada, and around the world. UIL Academics
UIL Academics
The University Interscholastic League offers the most comprehensive literary and academic competitive program in the nation. It offers more than any other UIL division in terms of activities, with approximately 30 high school contests. More than a half million students participate in UIL academic contests. These activities, which exist to complement the academic curriculum, are designed to motivate students as they acquire higher levels of knowledge, to challenge students to confront issues of importance, and to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of specific skills.
Infinity ECHS fields multiple competitive academics teams in University Interscholastic League competitions as National History Day.
We currently have teams for Current Events, Spelling, Mathematics, CX Debate, and Prose & Poetry Interpretation. Individual students are also competing in UIL and NHD essay events.
